Our day trip to Luxor began at 4.30 am when we were collected from our hotel in Sharm. This was going to be a long day but well worth it. We were met at Luxor airport by our excellent English speaking guide who explained the significance of each site that we visited and then let us loose to explore by ourselves. The sites included the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, three tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Clossi of Memnon. There was an inevitable visit to a shop- an alabaster factory- but there was no pressure to buy. After a decent lunch we visited the Karnak temple complex. A visit to Luxor temple was on our itinerary but as all of us were footsore by then we took photos from the outside and took an optional boat trip to Banana Island at sunset.
A great day out and back to the hotel by 9.00pm.
